March Into Spring Shop Hop!

The joyful march into spring begins, a cacophony of bird calls fill the blue skies, the trees show their fresh green buds, and the tulips start to poke their heads from the earth to face the sunshine. Colors are about to burst forth, and the earth will be new again. With fresh eyes, we are stocking our shelves with pretty greens, bright yellows, vibrant pinks, and beautiful blues. For the Boutiques at Make Mine Pink, spring cleaning is over, and we would love to show off our fresh new colors and exciting spring merchandise.

Custom Orders

Do you have a container that you think would make a pretty candle? Is there a certain type of container that you've always thought would make a nice candle for the decor of your home? Just send me an email, and I'll work with you. If you have a container, send it to me and I'll fill it with the fragrance and color of your choice! This would also be great if you have a container that you'd like to send to a friend. I could fill it, and then ship it to your friend for you. Some examples of items that would make good containers are: sugar bowls, punch cups, mason jars, jelly jars, custard cups, juice glasses, teacups, and small vases are a few options, the sky is the limit!

Also, do you have a piece of jewelry that you love, but it is broken and missing beads? Send it to me and I could make a bracelet and/or earrings out of it! Or, are you looking for a piece of jewelry to match a particular color? Let me make it for you. Just send a picture of the item that you're trying to match. Email me at rwsathome@tds.net

It's a Work of Passion

How blessed I am that I still get tingley when I think about creating a new candle or product line. I love every part of the process. It starts when I go to the flea market or estate sale looking for beautiful vintage items that would make great one of a kind candles. Oh the thrill of the hunt! I never know what treasures I'll come home with...a beautiful teacup and saucer, a vintage sugar bowl or an old peanut butter jar! I bring them home and clean them up shiny and new. Then depending on the season ( or my mood ) I choose which fragrance I want to use. It always fills my kitchen with the most wonderful aroma, and I get so excited knowing that when the candle makes it to it's new owner, that it will fill their home with the same aroma hopefully making it a better day! Pink Friday ~ Winter Whites
I love winter~ long January days where the snow stretches until it blends with the low white clouds. No definition of distance, just shadows to foretell what is to come. Winter is clean, cold and refreshing. Snowy whites and creamy ivory swirl together creating a sense of calm. The air is still. The whole world seems at peace. As nature rests under a blanket of snow, time is spent in thought. There are books to be read, journals to be written, rooms to refresh, plans to be made for the garden. But nothing needs to move to fast. We have time. Winter is here and we can take things slow, time to relax and get lost in dream world of all white.In January I always want to paint everything in the house a shade of white or ivory, maybe even beige or pale gray thrown in for interest. It is not cold and stark but rather clean and cozy. A late evening fire in a winter white room gives each item a glow~ the shadows are soft and relaxing. Plush white linens and fragile ivory lace beckons gentle serenity. A well appointed bed with piles of winter white linens topped by a cashmere throw just tempts me to open the window and listen for the stillness brought on by a blanket of snow. Then, just when one thinks the winter will never end; brave flowers peek up through the snow, the Jonquil, the Lenten Rose and the Prairie Pasque Flower. Their delicate flowers even more precious against the white snow, and the season begins to change.

I'm now making a new Aromatherapy Spa line. It comes complete with a soy blend candle infused with pure essential oils in a vintage, reusable container, and 2 bath teas. The bath teas are large tea bags filled with the herb of chamomile, and is scented with essential oils. The benefits of chamomile are incredible. Aromatherapy--The Winner!

Thank you all who voted in my poll! I think we have a clear answer to the question. I had a feeling that aromatherapy would win. Speaking of winning...I have a winner for the giveaway. Cindy of Angel Heart Designs has won a 3.5oz aromatherapy candle made with pure essential oils, and my newest product...a bath tea bag! It is a tea bag filled with chamomile, and scented with pure lavender essential oil. Cindy said she liked anything lavender-ish so I'm going to send her the lavender aromatherapy candle.

Chamomile is known for it's anti-inflamotory effects as well as for it's calming effects. And of course lavender oil is known for its ability to de-stress. So how perfect would it be to soak in a tub filled with the essence of chamommile and lavender at the end of a long day! I'm going to be working on getting the new aromatherapy line on my web site. I'll be offering several different types of aromatherapy from lavender to an aromatherapy called passion--just in time for Valentines day!

I'll be offering gift bags that will include a candle and bath tea bags, and then you'll be able to add accessories if you'd like. I could attach a broach to the bow on the outside of the bag, and/or a pair of earrings to the bath tea bag with a coordinating bracelet. I think it's the perfect gift for a friend or for yourself!

I do have some other things that I've been working on that I'm really proud of. I'm planning on having a spa line but it's still a work in progress, so more on that later. I can tell you that if you like relaxing baths after a long day then you'll love this new line!

New Things Are Coming!

After a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with family, I have had some new inspiration. I've been very busy working on some more "accessories" to "accessorize" my candles. And as always, everything I use to make these new items is vintage, and re-purposed. I've posted a picture to give you a little sneak peak. I'm hoping to have a few items on my website in time for the last shipping date of the gift giving season ;-)

New Antique Jar Candles!

I'd like to introduce my new product line...Antique Jar Candles! They're all different and unique and come with their own doilie! They're beautifully packaged with a doilie covering the lid. When you receive the candle, simply remove the doilie and you now have something to place your candle on! And as with all of my candles, when you burn the candle down to 1/2 an inch simply wash and you now have a beautiful container that you can use for something else, or for display. This would make a great gift for any occasion.

Tips for burning the dessert cup candles: The first time you burn your candle try to burn it for 3 hours. Soy wax has a memory, and it will only burn as wide as it burned the first time.

I have such a passion for high quality, highly scented candles I wanted to share that passion with others. There's something so wonderful about the warmth and joy that a candle can bring to an ordinary, or even a bad day. I've found that different fragrances can change or add to a mood. If you wake up to a cold and gloomy day, light up a homey candle like mulled cider, orange clove tea, or peppermint mocha. If you've had a stressful day, light a candle that reminds you of your favorite vacation spot, or a wonderful lavender scent.
